On Thursday, 9 November 2017, the Arab NGO Network for Development organized a workshop on taxation in Lebanon from a gender perspective, at the Riviera Hotel, Beirut. The workshop is in the framework of ANND’s work on economic and social rights in Lebanon and the Arab region and on international human rights mechanisms, including the Universal Periodic Review and efforts to push forward the sustainable development agenda, especially the fifth goal on gender equality.
In partnership with the Regional Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, ANND is implementing a project to promote adherence to international standards on economic, social and cultural rights of women in Lebanon. The project aims to:
The first workshop dealt with the main challenges related to the economic and social rights of women in Lebanon, with a general introduction on tax policies and tax justice, in addition to the discussion and approach of taxation from a gender perspective, with a focus on the Lebanese model.
