ANND has been involved in following trade and development issues since 2001, namely since the preparations for the Doha WTO Ministerial Conference. ANND's work in this area focuses on enhancing the capacities of civil society organizations in the Arab region in promoting developmental concerns and priorities within the trade policy-making scene

    The Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), along with the South Centre and Third World Network,organizes an annual Study Week On Trade And Investment policies In The Global South. This event this year will take place in fall 2016, in Geneva (Switzerland). The previous editions were exceptional opportunities to develop knowledge and expertise on the current trends of the global economy and its impacts in the South.

    The multilateral trading system represented by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) carries a profound impact on development processes and the status of human rights in our countries.   • IMFs Trade and Investment related advice to Arab countries: Trends and implications

    2013/10/02

    This paper is one in a series of papers published by the Arab NGO Network for development (ANND) as part of its work on monitoring IFIs’ policies in the Arab region.This work falls within ANND’s aims of strengthening the analysis and research on public policies in the Arab region, in addition to supporting the process of building a strong role for civil society in developing alternatives, specifically on the economic and social fronts, based on choices that are rooted in the local and national priorities and needs.  The following paper focuses on the IMF’s structural policy advice to Arab countries, which is one dimension of the policy advice presented to governments in the region along macroeconomic policy advice. The paper and the figures it presents focus on trends in middle-income non-oil exporting counties. The paper gives an overview of the challenges of production, wages, poverty, and inequalities in the Arab region. It reviews the narrative of the IMF post the revolutions in the Arab countries and discusses the IMF’s role in the area of trade and investment policies

  • The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
  • The Post-2015 development agenda, next-in-line to the MDGs, will be adopted at the United Nations 

    summit that will be held from 25 to 27 September 2015. ANND actively engages with its partners in the 

    process in order to contribute to the design of effective development policies for the Arab region.

    Along its works, ANND reflects the need for transformative changes to global governance systems and to 

    national policy choices in order to overcome inequality, exclusion and vulnerability.
