  • Let UPR become an accountability tool for human rights violations faced by Palestinian people under Israeli occupation!


    Today on January 23rd, 2018 a three and a half an hour session at United Nations Office in Geneva, during the 29th session of the Universal Periodic Review will be another test for international community to hold Israeli occupation accountable for fundamental violations of international law. Unfortunately, the answer will not only remain on the recommendations directed to delegation representing Israeli occupation, but more on the follow-up of the process, and whether we can ensure that those recommendations turn into action.

  • Economic and social rights conditions in Lebanon in light of second cycle Universal Periodic Review


    Before the adoption of the second cycle uiversal Periodic Review of Lebanon during the Human Rights Council 31st session , ANND submitted a written statement highlighting the need for Lebanon to translate all recommendations accepted into comprehensive, concrete and effective action at national level. This requires a serious commitment by adopting a road map and defining a clear timeline for implementation. Lebanon should establish a follow-up and monitoring mechanism that involves all relevant stakeholders including the civil society, and to engage with the media to raise further awareness and ensure accountability.

  • The Arab NGO Network on Development (ANND) launched the third issue of the Arab Watch on Economic and Social Rights, with a focus on the question of Informal Labor, in two workshops held in each of Beirut and Cairo, which brought together a group of experts, researchers, academics, and civil society activists. The report was produced with the support of Ford Foundation, Diakonia, Swedish Development Cooperation, Norwegian People’s Aid, and IM Sweden.
