Perceived as a tool for continuous monitoring and advocacy on human rights and rights-based policy changes, ANND engages in the process focusing on economic and social rights conditions and highlighting root causes of violations; fostering coalition-building and networking among civil society groups.

  • Economic and social rights conditions in Lebanon in light of second cycle Universal Periodic Review

    Before the adoption of the second cycle uiversal Periodic Review of Lebanon during the Human Rights Council 31st session , ANND submitted a written statement highlighting the need for Lebanon to translate all recommendations accepted into comprehensive, concrete and effective action at national level. This requires a serious commitment by adopting a road map and defining a clear timeline for implementation. Lebanon should establish a follow-up and monitoring mechanism that involves all relevant stakeholders including the civil society, and to engage with the media to raise further awareness and ensure accountability.

  • The Fifth Study Week on Trade and Investment Policies in South Countries. The Study Week was organized in collaboration with the South Center during the first week of December 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting aimed to enhance civil society advocacy on economic policies in the region by building capacities and raising awareness on the elected priority-issues and working towards establishing a working group of civil society activists from various Arab countries cooperating with the Network on studying the different layers of developmental process in order to have a wider scope of the development solutions and priorities for the Arab societies, according to the expertise coming from different contexts.

  • The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
  • The Post-2015 development agenda, next-in-line to the MDGs, will be adopted at the United Nations 

    summit that will be held from 25 to 27 September 2015. ANND actively engages with its partners in the 

    process in order to contribute to the design of effective development policies for the Arab region.

    Along its works, ANND reflects the need for transformative changes to global governance systems and to 

    national policy choices in order to overcome inequality, exclusion and vulnerability.
