This brief resource tool aims to provide insights for future civil society groups planning to engage in the UPR mechanism and to raise awareness about the role of CSO in the process. Accordingly, it starts with a short description of the UPR process, at a glance through a Q&A section and presents the process in a diagram. Then the resource tool describes how the Arab region engaged in the process since 2008, while briefly showcasing the trends .The following section compiles cases from selected countries that could be useful for groups interested in engaging in monitoring and advocacy mechanisms.
