Webinar: ANND's Reaction Paper to the Draft Declaration of the Second World Social Summit (WSSD2)

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND) organized a webinar to present and discuss its reaction paper to the United Nations’ draft political declaration (REV2) in preparation for the Second World Social Summit (WSSD2), scheduled for November 2025 in Doha.

The session provided a critical reading of the draft and highlighted the key takeaways and recommendations from ANND’s paper. It brought together regional and international experts to reflect on the challenges facing social development, particularly in the Arab region.

Speakers included:

• Ziad Abdel Samad – Executive Director of ANND, presented an overview of the WSSD2 process and global context.
• Adib Nehme – Social policy expert, presented the main structure and messages of ANND’s reaction paper.
• Salma Nims – Former Secretary General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, shared reflections and regional insights.
• Roberto Bissio – Coordinator of Social Watch, provided comparative and global perspectives.
• Barbara Adams – Board member at Global Policy Forum, concluded with insights on the international negotiations and the UN process.
